  5. Nifty Closing: NSE Top Gainer…

Today was the last market session before Diwali, and the market was flat throughout the day, with a marginal gain at the end. The equity broad market index Nifty 50 closed at 19215.35, up by only 0.15%.

The festive mood in the market is not prominent as the global peers are sluggish and highly volatile with the Middle East crisis and crude price volatility. Even the US bond yield affects the domestic market as FIIs redeem their investments in the country since the yield has increased in the West.

Having said that, today, there were 30 nifty gainers, which is one of the highest this week, while 20 nifty losers were at the end of the market session today.

Let’s find out the top nifty gainers and losers today to see which stocks performed the best and the worst before the market closes for the festive season.

Top 5 Gainer Stocks Today

  1. NTPC: The power stock has been moving around the 235 level, while today, it went up to 242.50 with a rise of 1.91%. While the rise in its price can be attributed to the positive bias seen in the market today, it also has to do with its successful completion of the first phase of the Dayapar Wind Energy Project.
  2. ONGC: Though the crude prices are volatile in the global market, this oil & gas company went up by 1.66% today as it announced the conference call regarding the Q2 results to be held on 15 November. In addition, the organization’s credit ratings have been reaffirmed, boosting investors’ confidence in the company.
  3. Tata Consumer: This FMCG is a top nifty gainer today, right before the market closes for Diwali. The stock has increased by 1.27% during the day, primarily due to festive demands.
  4. Tech Mahindra: This IT stock has risen amidst selling pressure in the IT sector today. The stock gained 1.25% following the announcement of its investor meeting, which will be held in the third week of November.
  5. Ultratech Cement: As the profit for Q2 has gone up on a YoY basis and the festive season is here, this construction material stock has gone up by 1.08% in today’s market session. The stock has been gaining for the past three market sessions based on the positive Q2 results.

NSE Top 5 Loser Stocks Today

StocksPrevious Day’s closing priceLTPChange (%)
  1. Hero Moto Corp: Due to oil price volatility and the falling auto sector, India’s favorite auto stock, especially in the two-wheeler segment, has fallen the most on NSE. The stock has lost 2.08% during today’s session and thus closing at 3108, down from its previous close of 3173.90.
  2. M&M: Mahindra and Mahindra, a top gainer yesterday, is the second top nifty loser today with a loss of 1.84%. The company has released its investors presentation today with the Q2 results, which, on the contrary, show 6% growth in PAT in the quarter and growth at 33% since the beginning of the year (YTD). The ROE has also been 20%, with an 18% rise in the EPS.
  3. HCL Technologies: This IT Company is under selling pressure in the IT sector today. The stock fell by 0.91% during the day to become one of the top nifty losers.
  4. Titan: FMCG companies are under selling pressure, as the festive demands have not picked up as they should have, and Titan is no exception. The stock price dipped by 0.72% today as the day session ended before this Diwali.
  5. Hindalco Industries: As the company announced Q2 results in which PAT dipped by 11% for this metals and mining company, the stock price slipped by 0.71% during today’s session. While the Revenue has increased marginally by 2% and EBITDA from the business segment by 14%, the profits fell, worrying the investors.

Wrapping up

Though the overall market was green today, significant selling pressure was seen in the auto, IT, and realty sectors. This led to a flat market throughout the day with marginal gains. Festive gains have been washed away by negative global cues and flying FIIs, and the market ended sluggishly before the festival of lights.
