The domestic stock market continued gaining for the second session in a row, following the surge in Asian markets. Nifty gained 0.46% today following yesterday’s gains above 1%. The Nifty 50 closed at 19765.20 today; however, during the day, it crossed the 19800 mark and peaked at 19875.25.

Today, the IT sector has offered a real push for the overall market to rise. The IT stocks shined the most; many made it to the top nifty gainers today. However, 18 stocks of this index have fallen during the market session today as well. 

To understand the market better, let’s look at the top nifty gainers and losers today.

  1. Hero Moto Corp: As the company released its festive sales data today, the stock price jumped by 3.34%. During the 32-day festive period, the company sold more than 14 lakh units from its retail segment. There has been a growth of 19% in festive sales compared to the previous year’s festive sales. The auto company also announced its investors’ meeting schedule today. 
  2. Tech Mahindra: As the IT sector surged significantly today, four out of the top five nifty gainers are IT stocks, Tech Mahindra being the first on the list. The company share price went up by 2.88% today due to falling treasury rates in the US and other factors such as strong quarterly results and positive sentiments across the market, especially in the IT sector. 
  3. HCL Technologies: As mentioned above, the top nifty gainers are mostly IT stocks; HCL Technologies is the next. The stock gained 2.85% today as the IT sector shines. 
  4. TCS: Another IT stock in the top nifty gainers list, which made a progress of 2.72% following the gains in the IT sector. The company also collaborated with the Munch Museum to create Pioneering Immersive and AI-driven drawing experiences. In addition, the company announced a buyback of shares, and the record date has been fixed as 25 November.
  5. Infosys: The fifth top nifty gainer is also an IT stock, which has risen by 2.45% and closed at 1445, up from yesterday’s price of 1410.50. This rise in the stock price is also due to the upswing in the IT sector.

  1. Axis Bank: Today’s top nifty loser has been this financial services stock, which has fallen by 1.47% during the day following a flat financial sector. The company also had its investors meet yesterday, which might have affected today’s stock price. 
  2. Coal India: This oil & gas company has dropped by 1.03% today. Its investors’ meeting is scheduled for 21 November. While this stock has fallen and made it into the nifty losers today, the oil and gas sector has increased during the session. 
  3. Adani Enterprise: This metals and mining stock has fallen by 1.01% today and closed at 2203 today due to the sluggish metal sector. 
  4. Tata Consumers:  The FMCG sector has declined marginally today, and Tata Consumers has fallen by 0.98% following the announcement of its investors’ meeting on 21 November. 
  5. ICICI Bank: The fifth top nifty loser today is ICICI Bank, another financial service company that fell by 0.65% following the sluggish financial services.

Therefore, overall, today’s domestic stock market was driven by the IT sector’s gains and declining bond yields in the US. The Asian market peers are also trading positively, influencing the market today.
